@ixaarii,
Deleting the article isn't actually required - Its from GamesIndustry.biz. (I am a programmer). In this context Episodic Gaming is looking promising, because its going to be digitally distributed over Xbox Live. This is a real statement of intent from Microsoft's part, to deliver compelling content regularly over live. Asking for monthly releases at this stage in the cycle is overly optimistic, however this is going to pave the way for that to happen eventually.
I think that GTA have a good chance of pulling it off because of their fan base and production values, and particularly because Microsoft are putting themselves behind this effort.
"A Rockstar rep told Next-Gen Wednesday that the content in question is merely the second of the two previously announced pieces of episodic content making their way to Xbox 360. While both pieces of episodic content were initially scheduled to hit Xbox 360 in Take-Two’s fiscal 2008, the second piece of content will now be available in fiscal 2009..."
@Eclectus,
You should delete the article then (your submissions->articles).
I am still very skeptical about episodic gaming: it seems to me companies just use that name to say "we're going to make a sequel next year and possibly not a high budget one either"... the only one I've seen do it right is Sam & Max... the most horrible example for me is Hl2.
That being said though, should games change from the 'kill-all creatures' things that they unfortunately mostly are into more content/story oriented things I would soooooo love to see game series with a monthly release (weekly is just to good to be true)...
@ixaarii,
Yes :( I noticed that after I submitted it. But I think that one thing I want to mention is it seems like GTA IV will be the poster boy for Episodic Gaming! I hope that this will usher in a new era of downloadable content as a buisiness model.
The Xbox 360 will have even more exlusive GTA4 content during 2009 beyond the two Exclusive Episodes already planned for realease in 2008. This game is going to be huge!
