Nintendo Could Control Over 50% of the Market

Nintendo of America Vice President of Marketing George Harrison expects the current console lifecycle to extend beyond the traditional five years and he fully believes that Nintendo will be in complete control with potentially over 50 percent of the market. He also had some harsh words for Sony and Microsoft.

EEDAR: Estimates Wii sold 3.2m in December

Nintendo hardware and software saved the US games market during December, with software for the systems accounting for over 50pc of all games sold during the month. That's according to Jesse Divnich of EEDAR, as the company estimates the Wii sold over 3.2m units during the month – the highest on record for any single console platform. Pachter predict 3.25 Million Wii sold In Dec

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter says that, with Wii supplies significantly increased over the holiday season, the console sold an estimated 3.25 million units last month. Pachter estimates 1.35 million Xbox 360 consoles, and 750,000 PS 3 consoles. Pachter predicts a $2.625 billion sales month for December 2008, a 10 percent increase over the year prior, with $2.42 billion in next-gen software sales.
