We�re at a rate now worldwide of about 1.8 million Wiis produced every month, and that�s going to sustain itself until we get on top of this. ... . Nintendo's financial report, ending Sept. 30, places 53.64 million DS/DS Lite and 13.17 million Wii sold worldwide. Tie ratios: 4.997 for Wii (counting Wii Sports), 4.837 for DS. This puts the Wii at more than half GameCube sales and roughly half its tie-in after less than a year. English translation of the sales table and further Gaf analysis available lower in the thread.

An analyst in Japan has estimated the profit that each Wii sold generates in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. With currency conversions factored in, the Wii makes the most money in Europe ($74 each), followed by the U.S. ($49) and Japan ($13).

Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Nintendo Co. overtook Sony Corp. as the world's biggest maker of game software in the third quarter, helped by new titles for the Wii console and DS handheld player, researcher ISuppli Corp. said. Nintendo now expects to sell 17.5 million Wiis in the year ending March 31, a 6.1 percent increase from a July forecast, and 97 million game titles, up 35 percent from its previous estimate.
