Analyst: The Year Of The PlayStation 3 Unofficially Delayed

Kotaku - December 26, 2008

Submitted by Sanderson1 (1045) at 5:59PM PST on December 26, 2008

One analyst, Piers Harding-Rolls from Screen Digest says that his firm thinks that next year could be Sony's year. "We always felt that 2008 was the year that PS3 kicked off - but we think that will now be 2009," he says. Yes, this is the same Screen Digest that projected that the PlayStation 3 would dominate, with the Wii slipping to third by 2010. That was extremely early in this console generation and, obviously, things have changed.

Free Radical, creator of Timesplitter, are closing down. Co-founder Ellis was "visibly upset" when he talked to the staff. "[He] told staff how very sorry he was and they'd been doing all they could, working flat-out to either find a publisher or a buyer over the past six months, but no offers were made. There have been several visits to the States, but to no avail." Reps from Codemasters and Monumental Games were at the hotel after the meeting asking for CVs and applications.
