Longer PSP battery length was all lies

After announcing the brand new slimline PSP at E3 one of the big bullet points that Sony hit on while trying to sell the redesign to the audience, both in attendance and worldwide, was that the new PSP's battery would last longer for gaming on the move. However, it has now come to light that this information was more of a small white lie by the company, rather than actual fact.

Xbox360 messenger kit is 'Solid'

Gamespot managed to get a hands on with the Xbox 360 messenger kit aimed at Xbox 360 owners which have an interesting in making the most of the systems communications functions. The peripheral itself is solid and could be of more appeal in the future if MS decide to release some real text dependent functions such as a web browser.

PS3 surprises ready for Leipzig

UK trade publication MCV is reporting that Sony Europe are set to unveil a range of surprises at this years Leipzig Games Convention in relation to the PS3. They are expecting video-on-demand, Freeview TV and a pre-Christmas price cut to all be announced for the PS3 at the show next month.

Epic Accused of "Sabotaging" UE3

Silicon Knights has filed suit against Epic Games, accusing the middleware studio of misrepresenting the abilities of the Unreal Engine 3 to their studio as well as others, with the supposed intent of allowing Epic's own Gears of War to overshadow their competitors.

Canadian June 2007 NPD Videogame Sales

Nintendo is victorious once again in Canada. Wii trounces the competition with 53k units sold, followed by the DS with 45.7k. The PS2 and the PSP follows with 21k and 18.5k units sold respectively. The 360 sold 13.5k, and the PS3 sales is once again defeated by GBA sales, 6.5k against 8.8k. Seven Nintendo console games, 5 for the Wii and 2 for the DS are in the software top ten. The other 3 spots are occupied by Xbox and Xbox 360 titles.

Vivendi's Sierra Online division seems like an experiment of sorts. First, Sierra itself represents a cadre of beloved PC game classics like SWAT, King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Gabriel Knight and the You Don't Know Jack series. Second, Sierra Online seems to have found success without using its sister company's IP to make it successful. This year, that will change.

Nickelodeon Empties $100 Mil War Chest into Casual Gaming

In a sign of the growing importance of the casual gaming sector, MTV Networks' Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group today announced (at the Casual Connect gaming conference in Seattle) that it will commit a whopping $100 million over the next two years for development, distribution and creation of casual gaming titles, sites and platforms.
