Gamasutra: "Tokyo-headquartered developer and publisher Square Enix is building a new studio in Los Angeles (El Segundo) that is working on an action-oriented game based for an original IP. According to the career section of the Final Fantasy company's U.S. site, it is seeking to fill several positions for the new location, including the roles of Xbox 360 software engineer, product manager, 3D artist, and more."

The NPD Group exclusively revealed to Gamasutra the Top 20 Software titles for the U.S. in October 2008, showing disappointing sales for Far Cry 2 and evidence of Activision Blizzard's Guitar Hero: World Tour lower down the charts -- but with November being the true franchise test. Ubisoft gets bigger by picking up Massive Entertainment

Massive Entertainment, developers of World in Conflict and the Ground Control series, have a new home at publisher Ubisoft. The Swedish studio was let go by Activision Blizzard following "The Merger." Clearly, despite Massive's quality work, WiC and the studio's RTS proficiency lacked the "potential to be exploited" by Blizzavision.

Pachter October NPD Estimates

Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter’s put out his October hardware estimates. “We estimate sell-through of 775,000 Wii, 325,000 Xbox 360 and 225,000 PS3 consoles,” he said. For comparison, EEDAR's estimate are : Wii 750k, X360 270k, PS3 220k. Note the big difference of expectation for X360 between Pachter and EEDAR

Mario Kart Wii, 5. Fallout 3 (360), 6. Wii Fit, 7. Wii Play, 8. FIFA 09 (360), 9. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (DS), 10. Fable II. First week sales for Gears are the 3rd highest of any 360 game.
