Rumour: Bungie game to be announced next week

VideoGaming247 - September 15, 2008

Submitted by noobie (104) at 1:30PM PST on September 15, 2008

This is from Gamer.tm again. The site’s claiming to have been told by an “industry insider” that a Bungie game’s going to be revealed at the same event during the week of September 22. A new Rare game’s going to be seen as well, apparently. We would suggest taking this one with a rather large pinch of salt. Draw your own conclusions. Full thing through the link.

Peter Moore: I pulled Sega out of the hardware market

VideoGaming247 - September 15, 2008

Submitted by noobie (104) at 12:31PM PST on September 15, 2008

A Guardian interview with Peter Moore has yielded probably the frankest ever description of Dreamcast’s demise, the exec saying he personally made the call to pull Sega out of the hardware market and head in the direction of multi-format publishing. “It was a big stakes game. Sega had the option of pouring in more money and going bankrupt and they decided they wanted to live to fight another day. So we licked our wounds, ate some humble pie and went to Sony and Nintendo to ask for dev kits.”

Majority of today’s software will be forgotton

Go Nintendo - September 14, 2008

“I think more than half of the games you see today with huge budgets and such a ‘realistic’ focus will be either stale or forgotten in 20 years. On the other hand, the masterpieces of the 80’s will definitely be enjoyed far into the future. The reason for this is simple — many of these classic titles have unique and fascinating mechanics that can’t be diminished by the advancement of technology.” - Tadashi Iguchi, Bandai Namco

Microsoft is understandably delighted by its August sales victory over Sony’s PS3, and has highlighted the massive surge in Xbox 360 hardware sales in early September in its response to NPD’s August US sales figures. Having been crowned the victor in its battle of Sony in August, Microsoft immediately sought to hammer home the fact that since it cut the price of its Xbox 360 range on September 3rd sales have climbed over 100 per cent, with sales of the low-end Arcade SKU increasing six fold.
