Guitar Hero: On Tour hits 300k in the US

Activision has announced that its DS music game Guitar Hero: On Tour has sold more than 300,000 units in North America during its first week on sale. The company claims this makes it the publisher's largest North American launch for a DS title by a factor of eight, and one of Activision's top 5 best-selling launches ever.

2K Games has announced a partnership with Dark Sector developer, Digital Extremes, to aid in the completion of the PlayStation 3 version of superb submerged shooter, BioShock. The aim is to give PS3 players a "fully optimized experience," complete with new features and content.

Sony PS3 catching up to Wii in Japanese sales

Nintendo sold 235,990 units of its Wii console in the five weeks ended June 29, while sales of the PS3 came to 139,494 units, Enterbrain said. Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 trails the pack, with sales of 10,964 units. For handheld game players, Sony sold 274,131 of its PlayStation Portable during the five-week period, surpassing Nintendo, which sold 195,714 of its DS gear.
