God of War II is the sequel of God of War, which was released in 2005 for the PS2. The sequel continues the story of Kratos, a feared warrior of Sparta. The series' setting is mythological Greece. Kratos is endowed with the powers of the Gods such as Poseidon's storms and Zeus's thunderbolts. The game features the same engine as the previous game and can be quickly picked up by fans of the original.
God of War II is a 3rd-person action game. The gameplay focuses on combat and puzzle-solving. The previous game was known for its fatality minigames, in which time will pause when an enemy has critically low health and the player can attempt to complete a minigame-like feat such as button mashing combos and joystick rotation. Success will result in performing an execution that results in the enemy dropping health or magic restoring orbs.
Kratos is armed with "the Blades of Chaos," swords that are chained to his arms so that they can be swung for greater distance. These weapons allow the player to piece together combo attacks. The game also features contextual attacks where the player must press certain buttons in certain situations to perform special attacks, such as dismounting a rider.

@kspraydad, have you seen any numbers on how God of War II has sold so far? I don't think I've seen anything since the month the game came out.

Indications are that it is still selling. SONY hasn't even made it a Greatest Hit yet (that takes 9 mos I think). Also, you'll have a bump in sales likely around the release of Chains of Olympus and when/if the PS3 version comes out.

Is this sold to retailers or to customers? I don't think Sony ever means sold to customers when using the term 'sold'.

So...
If we are accepting 101 for the US and 10 for CDN we will shortly have EU numbers and if it is picked up at the same rate as GOW we should see sales of approx 250k in the next 1.5 months.
That would be total sales of 1.35 million in 2.5 to 3 months...I think it would be way to early to discount this. To reach 2 million in say 1.5 more years that would be sales of 36k per month world wide pr approx 28k per month US sales needed...it is currently selling at 68k per month (17k per week according to VG)in the US.
I have no position in this stock.

So after seeing the rapid drop off in sales I think this stock is now overvalued, it's still a great game but I think everyone who wanted it purchased it already pretty much. It didn't make the top 10 in the NPD numbers for April after topping the charts the previous month.

This game still has some legs to it (GREATEST HIT STATUS in Jan 2008 or so) and perhaps a bump at Olympus and PS3 version release.
I'm thinking we are shy of the lifetime sales at current prices.
