GTA IV Review (IGN: 10/10)

IGN - April 25, 2008

Submitted by lstormy10 (31) at 3:24PM PST on April 25, 2008

"Grand Theft Auto IV is just as big a leap forward [as GTA III], though perhaps in subtler ways, and sets a new benchmark for open-world games. Everything in GTA IV works in harmony. The story would be nothing without the city; the city gains realism from the physics engine; the physics compliment the improved AI; the AI would make no sense without the new cover system. And on and on. There is no one major weak aspect."

GTA IV GameSpy Review (5/5 for both versions)

GameSpy - April 27, 2008

Submitted by Tyrantt00 (291) at 10:46AM PST on April 27, 2008

"Although its got plenty of excellent features, it's ultimately the storytelling that makes it an instant classic, a game unlike any we've played before. As is the case with many great books and movies, you'll want to know what happens to the characters after the game ends, and one can't help hoping that all of their American Dreams comes true." CVG Reviews Xbox GTA IV: 9.5/10

CVG - April 27, 2008

Submitted by tyrile (76) at 10:48AM PST on April 27, 2008

As an experience, especially a cinematic one, GTA IV is incredible. Story-wise, Rockstar's usual mix of crime, betrayal and truckloads of piss-taking is at full force in an event-filled plotline. It's easily our favourite narrative since Vice City. This is mostly down to the charismatic and infinitely likeable protagonist. Unlike the silent anti-hero of III, or CJ's custom canvas, Niko Bellic has tons to say and a shady past to uncover.
