Its release comes every Fall and we know die-hard Madden fanboys sit on the edge of their leather sofas in anticipation for the announcement of the game's official release date. So, here it is. This August 12th, Madden NFL 09 will tackle North American retailers in two flavors. The standard edition and a special Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition that comes packed with full versions of both Madden NFL 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 as well as some exclusive video clips.

Using a series of minigames to determine your skill level at passing and running, both offensively and defensively, the game is said to adjust its difficulty based on your Madden IQ.

User-Controlled Celebrations debut in Madden 09

The UC Celebrations feature allows players the chance to semi-control their player's TD celebrations with the press of a button. Each player, stadium and Hot Spot location in the end-zone will have its own celebration. You'll even be able to steal the other team's patented moves.

Madden NFL 09 Preview

At this week's EA Sports Season Opener in Burnaby British Columbia, game publishing behemoth EA opened the metaphorical kimono on their sports games in development at that massive campus as well as their other center of sports game development EA Tiburon in Orlando, Florida. And while there were a ton of games on display – well, more like twelve or so - the one that most people wanted to see is the new Madden.
