OXM UK - December 3, 2008

Submitted by afsplat (46) at 7:42AM PST on December 3, 2008

Harmonix has announced that it wasn't being entirely honest with its Rock Band 2 previews, and that there's a mystery new accessory in the works for its new game. The confirmation came in the review guide that accompanied OXM UK's copy, which contains a note about the extra connection on the back of the updated drum kit.

Rock Band 2 Announced

Kotaku - June 30, 2008

Submitted by TheTimeRanger (397) at 2:35AM PST on June 30, 2008

Shocker! Harmonix has done and made Rock Band 2. The game will be out on the Xbox 360 this September, and the PS3 later this year. The sequel will feature a new set list, and the RB2 bundle will feature "quieter, more realistic, and more reliable instruments" says Lead Designer Dan Teasdale. The good news for those who already own Rock Band is that all the songs you've purchases so far will be playable and supported in Rock Band 2.

Why we release it on X360 first

Virgin Media - July 16, 2008

Submitted by mrahaju (36) at 10:07PM PST on July 18, 2008

Rock Band 2 lead designer Dan Teasdale explained why the game is coming to the Xbox 360 ahead of the other platforms. "Microsoft have helped us out massively by coming in, helping us to complete features and have given us great marketing support," he continued. "So we've been able to release it relatively earlier compared to other platforms. PS3 and Wii version will be out very soon after the 360 version."

IGN Review: 9.0

IGN - September 12, 2008

Submitted by charron (27) at 3:41PM PST on September 12, 2008

Rock Band 2 improves in several areas over the original. The track list is better, the difficulty has been bumped up, it's more accessible, all previously released DLC works from the get-go, and Battle of the Bands is a brilliant online mode. But there's no getting around the fact that almost nothing was done to the main mode, World Tour. (Note: IGN scored Rock Band 1 a 9.4.)
