Release Fall of 2007

At the 2006 Game Developers Conference, a Ratchet & Clank tech demonstration was shown for the PlayStation 3. It will be developed by Insomniac Games once again, and released sometime in late 2007. Now that they've finished releasing "Resistance: Fall of Man," they are working full time on the sixth Ratchet and Clank game.

The tech demonstration video showed a walkthrough of one of the levels from the game. It was a huge futuristic city with greenery here and there-like Metropolis but with less plants-and it began with a tunnel, much like the opening tunnel of Metropolis in the first game. The tunnel had gears rotating inside of it with plants growing around; it looked like the person walking through it had just come out of a dark jungle. The city itself was huge with massive, futuristic buildings and towers with flying cars everywhere.

The busy skies of the city contained flying buses and sidewalks in the sky, much like Metropolis and Megapolis. The buildings in this city were more imaginative and original than other buildings in the previous cities, they had so much detail and are almost impossible to explain in words.

Soon, the trailer showed floating robots as they marched down a sidewalk. Police cars chased a flying cars above, and an airship came floating around an arch that read 'Ratchet and Clank' on it. The level demo ended there.

From the trailer's views, one could definitely say that the city is possibly Metropolis, returning again as it did in the first and third games.

It was revealed at the end of 2006 that the game will use the graphic engine of Resistance: Fall of Man.

"Due to some unexpected quickness at the factory, a vast majority of retailers have already received the game. With that, some retailers are choosing to release the game next week instead of waiting until the 30th, which we are all too happy to allow. Official launch date remains October 30, but for those who can’t wait ..., check with your local game retailer next week."

R&C sales past 1 million

MTV - March 5, 2008

Multiplayer: Sony fans got panicked when they saw NPD numbers and saw it only sold several thousand in the U.S., whatever it was. [Under 75,000 in the U.S. in its first calendar month on sale.] Price: It’s sold over a million worldwide now, so…It’s actually on par with the PlayStation 2 games now. It sold as many as the other games have at this point in its lifecycle.

Whether you're new to R&C or someone who has played them all, Ratchet and Clank Future deserves to be in your library no matter what. It's the best game on the PlayStation 3 thus far -- and that's saying a lot when you're up against Oblivion, Ninja Gaiden, Warhawk and Insomniac's very own previous effort, Resistance: Fall of Man. Presentation: 10, Graphics: 9.5, Sound: 8.5, Gameplay: 9.5, Replay Value: 9.0, **Overall: 9.4**

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is a very entertaining game and a solid platform title on the PS3. Loading in the game is very quick and there are a ton of options and weapons for you to choose from to cause mayhem. It also takes advantage of the six axis controls and tries to incorporate it into the gameplay as much as possible.
